1. Acceptance and Scope

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of MakerHub by schools, districts, teachers, students, administrators, and approved support personnel.

By creating an account, accessing the platform, or using any service feature, the user and the contracting institution agree to these terms.

2. Institutional Authority and Eligibility

School and district representatives must have authority to adopt and administer MakerHub on behalf of their institution.

Student accounts must be created and managed under school supervision and in compliance with local policy and applicable law.

  • - Each institution is responsible for role assignment accuracy.
  • - Institutions must ensure account use aligns with school conduct standards.
  • - Users must provide accurate and current registration information.

3. Account Security and Access Controls

Users are responsible for maintaining account confidentiality and safeguarding authentication credentials.

Institutions must promptly disable access for users who leave the organization or lose authorization.

  • - Do not share passwords or bypass role-based restrictions.
  • - Enable available security controls and monitor unusual activity.
  • - Notify MakerHub support immediately of suspected compromise.

4. Permitted Use

MakerHub may be used only for lawful educational activities, project-based learning workflows, and related administrative operations.

  • - Class setup, project assignment, grading, and feedback are permitted uses.
  • - Safety certification and evidence upload workflows are permitted uses.
  • - Commercial resale, scraping, or unauthorized benchmarking is prohibited without written permission.

5. User Content and License

Schools and users retain ownership of instructional materials and student-generated content submitted to MakerHub.

Users grant MakerHub a limited license to host, process, secure, transmit, and display content solely to operate and improve contracted services.

No ownership transfer of user content occurs under these terms.

6. Intellectual Property

MakerHub software, platform design, trademarks, and service logic are protected by intellectual property law and remain the property of MakerHub and its licensors.

No license is granted except as expressly stated in these terms.

7. Third-Party Services

MakerHub may integrate with third-party providers for hosting, authentication, analytics, messaging, or media handling.

Use of third-party functionality may be subject to additional provider terms and availability constraints.

8. Service Changes, Availability, and Support

MakerHub may update, improve, or retire features as part of normal product lifecycle management.

While MakerHub targets high availability, uninterrupted operation is not guaranteed due to maintenance, third-party failures, or events outside reasonable control.

9. Suspension and Termination

MakerHub may suspend or restrict access when necessary to protect platform security, enforce policy, or respond to legal obligations.

Institutions may request account termination and data export in accordance with contractual and legal constraints.

10. Disclaimers

MakerHub is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis except as otherwise stated in a signed agreement.

To the extent permitted by law, MakerHub disclaims implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MakerHub is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages.

Where liability limits are permitted, total liability is limited to the amount paid by the institution for MakerHub services during the 12 months before the claim arose.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These terms are governed by applicable US law and any controlling state or local requirements under the contracting institution.

Parties agree to attempt good-faith resolution before pursuing formal legal remedies.

13. Policy Updates and Contact

MakerHub may update these terms to reflect legal, security, or operational changes. Material changes will be published with a revised effective date.
