This policy sets the expected standard for safe, respectful, digitally responsible use of MakerHub by students, staff, administrators, and other authorized users.

Audience

Written for school authority, board, district, and education authority deployments in a school-managed environment.

Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy defines required conduct for all MakerHub users in school-managed environments.

It applies to students, teachers, administrators, support staff, contractors, and any other authorized users operating under an institution's approval.

The policy is intended to support a safe, caring, respectful, and digitally responsible learning environment.

Approved Use

Users must use MakerHub only for approved educational, instructional, operational, safety, or support purposes.

  • Use the platform only for approved educational and administrative purposes.
  • Follow role permissions, class assignments, and staff instructions while using the service.
  • Use only institution-approved accounts and devices where required by local policy.
  • Keep uploads, comments, and submissions relevant to the school activity or workflow.

Respectful Conduct

Users must act lawfully, respectfully, and professionally while using MakerHub.

  • Communicate respectfully in comments, reflections, submissions, and shared artifacts.
  • Follow teacher, administrator, and classroom safety instructions.
  • Use inclusive language and avoid harassment, bullying, intimidation, or discriminatory conduct.
  • Do not use the platform to embarrass, target, or isolate other students or staff.
  • Demonstrate responsible digital citizenship and good judgment when creating, uploading, or sharing content.

Privacy and Confidentiality

Users must protect personal information and confidential school information accessed through the platform.

  • Do not post personal phone numbers, home addresses, private health details, counselling information, or other unnecessary sensitive data.
  • Do not access, download, share, or redistribute records you are not authorized to view.
  • Use exports, screenshots, and downloaded files only for approved school purposes.
  • Ask a staff member before uploading third-party personal information or media that identifies others.

Security and System Integrity

Users must not interfere with platform security, reliability, or access controls.

  • Do not share passwords, reuse another person's session, or attempt to bypass role restrictions.
  • Do not probe for vulnerabilities, upload malware, tamper with logs, or attempt unauthorized access.
  • Do not use bots, scripts, scraping tools, or automation against the service unless the institution and MakerHub have approved it in writing.
  • Sign out of shared devices and report suspicious activity promptly.

Content, Media, and Intellectual Property

Users must upload only content they are authorized to use and share within the educational context.

Attribution, licensing, copyright, and permission obligations remain the responsibility of the uploader and institution.

  • Do not upload illegal, infringing, explicit, abusive, or dangerous content.
  • Do not submit fabricated records, impersonated work, or misleading evidence.
  • Follow any institution rules for student photos, video, and public sharing.

AI Use Rules

If AI-assisted features are enabled, users must treat them as drafting and support tools rather than as authoritative decision-makers.

  • Review AI output before using it in class materials, feedback, or records.
  • Do not paste unrelated sensitive personal information into AI prompts.
  • Do not use AI features to harass, profile, cheat, generate unsafe instructions, or avoid required teacher judgment.

Reporting, Monitoring, and Consequences

MakerHub and authorized institution administrators may monitor usage, logs, and content as needed to protect user safety, maintain service integrity, and investigate violations.

Any observed child safety concern, grooming behavior, threat, or exploitation risk must be reported immediately through school channels and applicable emergency procedures.

  • Reports should include relevant account identifiers, timestamps, class context, and screenshots or links where available.
  • Enforcement actions may include warning, content removal, assignment restrictions, temporary lockout, account suspension, or account termination.
  • Institutions may apply additional school or school authority discipline rules outside the platform.
  • MakerHub may update this policy to reflect legal, safety, or operational changes. Updates become effective on publication unless otherwise stated.
